The Five Quick-Fixes of Navigating Conflicts
4mWe can participate in difficult situations and conflicts in several ways. We can be injured parties, conflict solvers, or bystanders. Apart from our role, we all have five quick fixes that we can utilize.
The five quick fixes are:
- Stories – Focus on people's stories and the differences in them. How could you make the gap between differing views a tad smaller? Try to visualize the stories.
- Emotions – Try to build a bridge between emotions and things: why do I feel the way I do?
- Trust – Talk about the most minor thing that could increase trust.
- Dilemma – Move the conversation away from the immediate threat and recognize the dilemma.
- Balance – Try to recognize tensions and perspectives that need to be balanced. There is no right or wrong; it's all about balance.
